PelhamToday received the following letter to the editor from a reader regarding the nature of pandemic time:

I don’t know about you but my sense of time has been distorted. The hours pass so slowly but the months just speed by. Here we are the end of February already.

Could it be that we just went through a 36-month-long ‘Covid Year’ that started when the lockdowns were declared in March of 2020? It seems like so long ago.

It does feel like a New Year with the promise of spring, and getting out and traveling. It could be a celebration that recognizes how we came together in a time of crisis.

It’s a time of gratitude for our family, friends, health and community. Certainly, a time of reflection and resolution and renewed intentions.

So an extra long year ends and a promising New Year begins. Happy New Year 2023!
