Pelham Regional Councillor Diana Huson is sending a shout-out to Pelham teenagers, encouraging them to put their names forward as soon as possible for the Regional Chair’s Youth Advisory Panel.

“We’re looking for teens ages 13 to 19, who want to add their passion, skills, and talents to help build Niagara’s future,” said Huson. “As a panel member, you’ll provide recommendations, advice, and information to council and staff on issues that affect Niagara teens.”

In 2022, initiatives which Youth Advisory Panel members addressed included Niagara’s Official Plan and climate change. Fresh perspectives on such issues as the environment, public transportation, housing and homelessness, and mental health are solicited for 2023.

The Youth Panel is comprised of 12 teens, one from each of the 12 municipalities in the region. Different backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints are sought. Selected members attend six meetings throughout the year, and serve a one-year term, with an option to renew for a second year.
