Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Niagara Falls - Welland - Southern Niagara Region
  • St. Catharines - Grimsby - Northern Niagara Region

Significant snowfall beginning early this afternoon.

Hazards:
Total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm. 
Reduced visibility in heavy snow.
Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult.
Isolated power outages are possible.

Timing:
Beginning early this afternoon and ending early Thursday morning.

Discussion:
A Texas low will bring heavy snow to the area beginning early this afternoon. Heavy snow will taper off to flurries early Thursday morning. A couple additional centimetres will be possible on Thursday.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
