The family of Veronika Maria Bussmann announce her passing on January 23, 2023 at the age of 92. Loving and devoted wife to Felix Karl Bussmann for 55 years, who predeceased her in 2019. Cherished mother to her sons Markus (Peggy), Stefan (Michel), and Michael (Simone). Oma to Erik, Joshua, Peter, and Sylvia.
Veronika was born in 1930 in Glatz, Silesia, Germany, the youngest of four sisters on a large farmstead. After the war, she was the first to travel west, and would later return to resettle her entire family in North Rhine-Westphalia. At the age of 19, Veronika began her training as a nurse and went on to specialize in massage therapy. When one of her patients asked if she would like to meet her son, who was visiting from Canada at the time, Veronika agreed. The next year, in December 1963, Veronika and Felix married. Veronika kept up with the frequent moves as part of Felix's career in the Canadian military, keeping an impeccably clean and organized home for Felix and her three boys, and preserving food grown in their large gardens, which she tended along with her beautiful bed of roses. Veronika prepared every meal like it was Sunday, with care and love.
The funeral mass will take place at St. Alexander's Church, 50 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House Toronto, or the charity of your choice. Online condolences can be shared at www.pelhamfuneralhome.ca.
