“Called home to be with her Lord and Saviour” peacefully at her home in Welland, Ontario surrounded by her loved ones on Tues. Nov. 14, 2023. Joyce Electra Weatherby (97) was the beloved wife of the late Lorne Weatherby (deceased in 1999). Loving mother of Annette Redman (Bryan) of St. Catharines and Rev. Rob Weatherby (Birgitta) of Welland. Dear grandmother of Grant Redman (Carly), Sarah Van Vliet (Luke), Joel Weatherby (Catherine) and Sonja Sweet (Joel). Great-grandmother of Cole Redman, Quinn, Brielle, Emery and Kiera Van Vliet, Emma, Rachel, Madelyn and Caleb Weatherby, and Nathaniel, Aaron and Eleanor Sweet.
Born in Gaspereau (Annapolis Valley), Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Nellie (Trevoy) Coldwell and predeceased by her sister, Lois Beevis, and brother-in-law, Bev Beevis, of Pembroke, ON.
Joyce and Lorne moved to Welland in 1949. She was an active member of the Fonthill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a faithful member of the Janet Robinson Mission Circle and received a life membership from the Baptist Women’s Missionary Society of Ontario and Quebec.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kathryn Janzen, home care nurses Colleen and Jocelyne, and her various personal support workers for their loving care.
A memorial service will take place at the Pleasantview Funeral Home Chapel (Merrittville Hwy. entrance) on Mon. Nov. 20, 2023 with visitation at 1:00 pm, service at 2:00 pm, burial at 3:00 pm and reception at 3:30 pm.
