FENWICK: Police looking for man who spoke with girl

Third District detectives are trying to identify an adult man who spoke with a 12-year-old girl in Pelham (Fenwick).

On Jan. 30, 2023, 3 District – Welland uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) attended an elementary school in the area of Church Street and Martha Court in Pelham (Fenwick). The initial investigation determined that at 8:25 a.m., the girl was walking to school along Church Street when a black Dodge Caravan driven by an adult man stopped and spoke briefly to the girl. The driver’s side sliding door had been opened by the driver. The girl walked away, and the van left the area. The girl reported the incident to the school administration, and the NRPS was called.

There was no physical contact between the girl and the unknown man.

The male driver is described as:

  • White man
  • 40-50 years old
  • Short grey hair with possible buzz cut
  • Tall, skinny build

The investigation has been assigned to 3 District detectives. While there is no allegation or evidence of a criminal offence, detectives are seeking to identify the man and determine his intentions.
