Town clerk Nancy Bozzato feels the pace picking up as the Oct. 27 municipal election nears.
Bozzato, who organizes and supervises the election process, said more people are paying attention now that a list of candidates is final.
Residents are checking whether they are on the voters list, which ward they live in, and where polling stations are, she said at a booth clerks department set up at the Thursday evening Pelham Farmers Market.
New residents or those that have moved since the previous municipal election in 2010 should be looking at the list, she said.
Last year, the town council changed the boundaries for the three wards to balance the population in each.
Ward 1 is geographically larger covering Fenwick and most of the rural area from Pelham’s northern boundary to the Welland River in the south. It stretches west of Centre Street, north of Metler Road and south of Foss Road.
Ward 2 wraps around Ward 3 in Fonthill. Ward 3 extends east of Effingham Street and south of Pancake Lane and Port Robinson Road.
Residents can check the voters list at the Pelham municipal building in Fonthill or online at the town’s website www.pelham.ca.
Advance polls for the Monday, Oct. 27, municipal election -- from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for all polls in all wards -- are: on Saturday, Oct. 18, at Pelham Fire Station No. 1 in Fonthill; on Monday, Oct. 20, at Pelham Fire Station No. 2 in Fenwick; and on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Pelham Public Library in Fonthill.
