LETTER: Electricity a costly thing for Canadians

Reader Peter Voss has some concerns when it comes to the carbon tax and cost of electricity

PelhamToday received the following letter regarding the carbon tax.

Even though your carbon taxes are choking our economy, I could accept them grudgingly if these carbon taxes were used to upgrade Canada's electrification to go green.

With hotter summers and the need for more electricity to cool us, where is the added electricity going to come from for to charge EV vehicles, when at times during the summer were close to brownouts from the use of air conditioners.

Not only will we not have enough electricity to charge these EV's, Canadians will be lucky to afford them without significant government rebates.

My own opinion is that upgrading the electrical supply across Canada will cost "trillions" of dollars. so if you think your natural gas bill is high, just wait for it!

No honest politician has the guts to tell Canadians the true cost of going green for Canadians individually, which will only pile on more government debt,

I believe there is a climate crisis which needs to be resolved, but as a G-7 country, Canada has the most debt per capital of them all
