An outstanding result in Kitchener by-election— the winds of change!

On November 30, Kitchener Centre chose Green candidate Aislinn Klancy in a by-election for the Ontario Legislature. From the information I have seen she received 47.99% of the total votes cast, with NDP Debbie Chapman at 26.7%, PC Rob Elliot at 13% and Liberal Kelly Steiss in fourth.

With Mike Schreiner, leader of the Green Party of Ontario, holding the Guelph riding, the addition of a second seat is a huge opportunity for the Party and a signal to the electorate.

Now is the time for the majority of Ontario voters to stop being timid. Climate change is real and the best solutions lie within the Green Party policies. The Greens don’t need to win the next Ontario election as long as there is a real surge of people who believe in fighting climate change and vote their conscience. There are 124 seats in the legislature; the PCs 79, NDP 28, Lib. 9, Independent 5, Green 2, Vacant 1.

Clearly to change direction the number of PC members must drastically be reduced and the Green Party members must increase significantly. With greater influence and pressure from Green policy, the government of the day will be forced speed up their actions to do the right things in regard to fighting climate change.
