LETTER: Universal pharmacare could be costly for those with private insurance

'I was fortunate to retire with good private prescription drug coverage, and I'm afraid to lose that coverage'

PelhamToday received the following letter about universal pharmacare.

Be aware, that if you have prescription drug plans through your place of employment, and it`s taken away with universal pharmacare, that it might prove costly for you!

My wife and I are seniors and some prescriptions we were prescribed were not covered under the Ontario Drug Benefit Plan, and some were very costly, especially the new RSV drug. I was fortunate to retire with good private prescription drug coverage, and I'm afraid to lose that coverage.

It just seems to me utter nonsense to spend $25 billion dollars for universal pharmacare, when $8 to $10 billion would only be needed for those that have no drug coverage.

If you have private insurance, I urge you to contact your MP and let them know how you feel about losing your private coverage
