LETTER: Which Poilievre will we see next?

'He continues to promote distrust of our democratic government'

PelhamToday received the following reader letter regarding Pierre Poilievre:

In earlier days Pierre Poilievre cultivated fans amongst the disenfranchised and the right wing conservatives with his anti- LGBTQ and anti- abortion stance. However Poilievre changed his mind recognizing he would alienate too many voters. His recent video suggests he is a family man coincidentally released as Trudeaus announced their separation.

Mr Poilievre’s support of the anti- vaccine truckers movement, which morphed into anti- government, promoted his angry rhetoric.

This gave him a platform to demonstrate his perceived unity with the everyday taxpayers. He continues to promote distrust of our democratic government. He even has adopted a few conspiracy theories.

Mr Poilievre has yet to disclose specific economic proposals. His ability to collaborate is in question. He could start with Doug Ford whose popularity sits reasonably well with mainstream Ontario.

Mr Poilievre’s political survival is in question as he appears to be softening his "attack dog" attitude.

As for honest principles his history speaks for itself. His embrace of populism and his consistent negativity may appeal to those fed up with Liberals but beware the consequences. A successful leader is a controlled and skillful negotiator, not a loud, demanding wannabe gatekeeper.  Mr Poilievre manipulates  facts, offers disinformation to anyone who will listen and or repeat. Canada does not need Mr Polievre's grievances leadership. Perhaps however he is a chameleon as slowly we are being offered a different vision with the new feminine marketing.
