PelhamToday received the following letter to the editor from reader regarding Pelham Town Council's decision not to allocate taxpayer funds to the Welland YMCA:
The Welland YMCA is a good choice for seniors. With convenient hours and multiple programs (offered at various times) it is cost-effective and offers free, plentiful parking. Whether yoga or pickleball, strength training or chair exercise with the all-important indoor swimming pool, the Y has it all.
There is no facility within Pelham which does the same nor for a reasonable price. Weekly I meet other Pelham taxpayers who enjoy the Y. Many have attended for years.
For councillors to throw shade on both the Y and Welland is not relevant to the funding requested.
