Bandshell patrons dig funkadelic vibes

Crowd mirrors energetic performance of band

You can’t help but dance when listening to the music of Sly and the Family Stone.

At least that was the response for many of the attendees of the concert Thursday, Aug. 24 at the Fonthill Bandshell, as some of Canada’s blues and funk all-stars came together to present “Everyday People – the Music of Sly & the Family Stone.”

Led by singers Quincy Bullen and Quisha Wint, the performers included Selena Evangeline (sax) Marie Goudy (trumpet), Everton White (drums), Calvin Beale (bass), and Rohan Staton (guitar), under the musical direction of Lance Anderson.

Next up is Martin Kerr, a rising singer-songwriter star on the Canadian scene, who genre-hops from folk to hip-hop, pop, to soul and funk. The concert, which starts at 7 p.m., is sponsored by Rankin Construction.
