A ban on open-air burning in Wainfleet has been lifted, town officials said today.

The ban was brought in on June 8 due to dry conditions and in response to poor air quality due to forest fires up north.

While the ban is lifted, the town urged residents to "burn responsibly".

Burn permits are still required for controlled open air burning. Applications can be completed online at https://wfes.burnpermits.com/ or by visiting the Township Office located at 31940 Highway 3, Wainfleet, Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
