Eventful evening for Fenwick Lions

At the Fabulous Fenwick Lions Club dinner meeting on Jan. 18, two representatives from Rose City Kids, Sonya Wierenga and Kaitlin Ives, attended.

Wirenga updated members on what programs they were running mentioning they had approximately 600 kids and teenagers participating. Ives gave an emotional talk on her coming to Rose City Kids at the age of six and being associated with them as see grew to be a young woman who is now in her third year at Brock University.

They were then presented with the Club’s yearly donation of $1,000.

Two new Lions were inducted into the Pride, bringing the the club’s membership to 47. New Lion Chris McPherson was sponsored by Ken Angle, and new Lion Phil Korten was sponsored by Ryan VanLochem.

Finally, Lion Al Beamer was presented with a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. Since receiving his original Melvin Jones Fellow in 2008, Beamer has continued serve the club, his community, and Lions District A2 and Lions Club International. Lions International recognizes outstanding individuals by bestowing on them an award that is named for its founder, Melvin Jones.

This Fellowship Award (LCIF) is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism. The recipient of this award becomes a model of exemplary service to his club and the community which it serves.
