NIAGARA FALLS – It's official! The City of Niagara Falls, in partnership with Niagara Falls Tourism, has broken the Guinness World Record for "Largest gathering of people dressed as the sun" with 309 participants, according to a city news release.
The previous record was held by China Life Insurance Co. Ltd., which achieved the record in 2020 with 287 participants, the city said.
Niagara Falls broke the record early Monday morning, April 8, 2024, on a Niagara City Cruise just hours before the solar eclipse.
An official Guinness World Record adjudicator was present to adjudicate the event, the city said.
"Congratulations to everyone involved, making this special day even more memorable," the city said.
The city also thanked the Niagara River Trading Company for assisting in the record breaking attempt.
