UPDATE: MCC open again

Programming as of 1 p.m. back on track following power issue

Those hoping to maintain morning routines or attend a seniors' seminar at the Meridian Community Centre (MCC) were out of luck Thursday morning. The MCC had a transformer fire on April 4. The community centre then partially re-opened through the use of a temporary generator.

Leah Letford, communications specialist for the Town of Pelham, said there “was a localized issue with the temporary generator onsite” Thursday morning.

She said the electrical contractor was working to determine the reason for the failure. “A replacement generator is en route, and the facility is expected to be open after 1 p.m. today,” she said.

“This will not impact the overall timeline for the transformer replacement,” Letford noted.

Updates will be posted as they become available.
