Niagara Sexual Assault Centre (NSAC) is once again holding the annual Take Back the Night march in downtown St. Catharines, encouraging the community to come together to advocate for an end to violence against women.

The Sept. 21 event will start and finish in the same location as last year, the Market Square building at 91 King St., behind St. Catharines City Hall.

NSAC has hosted this event in our community for 41 years. This year’s theme is Your Voice, Your Night.

“Our theme this year is intended to encourage people to reflect not only on what Take Back the Night means to them personally but to consider what it means for the community as a whole. This event is an important reminder that violence against women is still happening,” said Sheri Durksen, NSAC Board Member

In addition to the march through St. Catharines’ downtown streets, the evening will include speakers from Brock University, Niagara College and the DSBN. Music will be provided by Leanne Vida.

As always community partners will have tables set up to inform the community about their services.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Speakers and music starts at 7 p.m., followed by the candlelight walk. Everyone is welcome to attend.
