Fonthill and District Kinsmen are pleased to announce that the 2023 Pelham Citizen of the year is Yvon Audette. Yvon and his wife, Wendy, are longtime Pelham residents.Yvon was a volunteer firefighter at Pelham Station #1 for 32 years. He remains active with the firefighters association as treasurer.

He is responsible for the maintenance of Station 1’s antique 1939 pumper fire truck, which he drives in numerous parades, funerals and special events. For the past nine years he has been the lead volunteer in the Pelham Fire Fighters annual toy drive providing toys specific to children’s wishes, and when he’s is not doing all of that, he volunteers at the last chance horse and pony rescue in Crystal Beach.

Yvon exemplifies the true volunteer spirit, and community activism that is the basis of the criteria by which our selection is made. We had a number of good nominees this year, and as in past years its always a tough decision.

Fonthill and district Kinsmen have been sponsoring the Pelham Citizen of the year since our first in 1998, this will be our 24th award, losing two years due to the covid pandemic.

The award dinner will be held Tuesday, March 5, at the Fonthill Legion, Highway 20 in Fonthill. Advance Tickets only, $20, available at Pelham Printing, 22 Highway 20 W, Fonthill.
