The Welland Jackfish went wire to wire, defeating the Guelph Royals 8-2 at Welland Stadium Thursday night during Intercounty Baseball League action.

The Jackfish scored one run in the first, second, fifth, and eighth innings, adding four more for insurance. Carlos Martinez and Caleb Feuerstake each had three hits, with Sam Cawker adding two RBI to lead the Jackfish offence.

Starter Alberto Guerrero and the Jackfish bullpen allowed only four Royals hits. Guerrero struck out seven and picked up the win. Yuki Narita was tagged with the loss while striking out nine over six innings of work.
