It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on January 25th of James Heron of Fonthill at the age of 94.
Born in Scotland, Jim was the son of Alexander and Jane Scott Heron. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years Jean, daughter Lesley Charest (Andre) of Burlington, and son Alan (Deborah Stier) of Victoria B.C.
Jim spent the majority of his career at Niagara College in Welland as a professor in the math department. Over his long retirement, Jim and Jean had the opportunity to travel widely and enjoy extended visits with Alan and his family in Victoria.
Jim was an avid golfer and played at Lookout Point in Fonthill for many years where he was an honorary member.
The family extends their thanks to the staff at Lookout Ridge Retirement Residence in Fonthill, and the staff of the 6th floor of Welland Hospital for their care and kindness.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jim's life is planned for the spring.
