VanKoughnet, Bridget Gertrude (White) 1927 - 2024

Bridget passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Lookout Ridge Retirement Home on Sunday, January 14, 2024 in her 97th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband William (2005). Dear and loving mother of Frances St. Thomas (Tim), Sandra MacKeen (Gary), Wendy Keating (Peter) and JoAnne Koudys (Enzo). Cherished grandmother of Stephanie, Amanda, Julia, Alexander, Elizabeth, Adam, Alexandria, Chris, Jacob and Jessica. Great grandmother of Neale, Myles, Vivienne, Hudson, Isabel, Grey, Theodore, Arthur, and Nora. Dear sister and best friend of Norma and predeceased by her siblings George, Frank, Fred, May, Pat, Belle, Nell, and Kay.

Bridget was born on Bell Island, Newfoundland where she caught the eye of many suitors, but it was William Alexander Van Koughnet who captured her heart and sparked her lifelong love of travel. She passed this love down through the generations. Bridget was spirited, steadfast, and loving (…even when threatening to "break your face"). She was the centre of her family, the anchor, the matriarch. She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lookout Retirement Home for their care and compassion.

Family and friends will be received at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham St. Fonthill on Wednesday, January 17th from 4 - 7pm. The funeral to honour Bridget's life will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, January 18th beginning at 11:00 am. The family will gather privately for the interment at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
