10-year-old killed in QEW crash in Lincoln

Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Highway Safety Division (HSD) - Burlington Detachment, are investigating a three-vehicle collision that has resulted in one fatality.

On Thursday, March 30, 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a grey vehicle was travelling on the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way), eastbound (Niagara bound) near Tufford Road, in the Town of Lincoln, Ont. The driver of this vehicle approached slowing or stopped traffic and collided into the rear of a white vehicle ahead of it in the left lane. This collision resulted in a chain reaction as the white vehicle was pushed forward into another white vehicle directly ahead of it. As a result of the collision a 10-year-old passenger from Beamsville was extricated by emergency services from the first white vehicle and was transported to a trauma center where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the first vehicle, a 31-year-old woman from Mississauga was not injured and remained at the scene. The driver and additional passenger of the second vehicle, a 44-year-old female and a 10-year-old boy, both from Beamsville, along with the driver and passenger of the second vehicle, a 37-year-old woman and 10-year-old female both from Milton, were all transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.

The OPP-HSD Traffic Support Unit is assisting with the investigation that is ongoing. No charges have been laid at this time; updates will be provided as they become available.
