$20K in suspected drugs, smoke grenade seized during search warrants

In June 2023, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Street Crime Detectives assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) commenced an investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs throughout the City of Niagara Falls.

On July 10, 2023, detectives, with the assistance of the Emergency Task Unit, executed search warrants inside a hotel room on Fallsview Boulevard, at a residence on Drummond Road near Monroe Street, and on a 2018 Hyundai Tucson being operated by one of the suspects. As a result of the investigation two suspects have been arrested. In total, detectives recovered 230.7 grams of suspected fentanyl, 46.9 grams of suspected cocaine, 307 grams of suspected cannabis, one smoke grenade classified as an explosive, and one canister of pepper spray classified as a prohibited weapon. The combined estimated value of the seized drugs is $20,500. In addition, detectives also seized $42,501.15 of Canadian currency believed to have been acquired through the proceeds of crime.

Jessica Ferreira-Parsons (28 years) of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Unlawful possession of explosives
  • Fail to comply with release order

Marcus Roye (29 years) of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Fail to comply with release order

Both Ferreira-Parsons and Roye remain in police custody. Both are scheduled to attend a bail hearing later today (July 11th, 2023) via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.
