Man seriously injured after ATV hits metal fence in Fort Erie

Police say a man suffered serious injuries after the all-terrain vehicle he was operating collided with a metal fence Wednesday in Fort Erie.

At around 12:30 p.m. officers from the Niagara Regional Police responded to the crash in Stevensville.

Also responding were Niagara EMS and the Fort Erie Fire Service.

The crash took place in the area of Stevensville Road between Bowen Road and Carver Street.  

The 34-year-old lone male rider was airlifted to an out-of-region hospital for treatment, police said in a news release.

No other vehicles or people were involved in the collision, police said.

The incident is still under investigation by 5 District officers.
