A 32-year-old Hamilton man is facing child porn charges after detectives from Niagara Regional Police and the Hamilton Police Service ICE Unit executed a search warrant today and seized numerous devices capable of storing electronic data, according to a news release.

Evidence uncovered at the Hamilton scene resulted in the arrest of Cody Alexander Fisher, who is now facing the following charges:

  • one count of possessing child pornography
  • one count of accessing child pornography

In addition, the accused is facing one charge for failing to comply with a prohibition order regarding children which was imposed due to a previous Criminal Code conviction.

Niagara police began an investigation In November 2023 into several uploads of child sexual abuse material to a Google cloud-based storage service.  This investigation was conducted with the assistance of the Hamilton police.

The accused was held in custody after his arrest and is set to appear for a bail hearing on Jan. 10 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

Online platforms that allow like-minded users to create, share and store Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) are prevalent on the Internet.  Offenders who try and hide their illegal CSAM collections behind an anonymous account in the “cloud” can be identified and will be held accountable for their actions.
