Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit in Niagara Falls

On Aug. 22, 2023, at 11:09 p.m. Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded alongside the Niagara Falls Fire Department (NFFD) and Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Morrison Street near Second Avenue, in the City of Niagara Falls.

Initial investigation has determined a grey 2015 Buick Verano was travelling west on Morrison Street when a collision occurred involving a 43-year-old female pedestrian from the City of Niagara Falls. The pedestrian was assessed by paramedics at the scene and transported to an out-of-town trauma centre. The pedestrian remains in hospital and is listed in critical condition at this time.

Detectives assigned to the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being supported by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit.  The circumstances related to the cause of the collision remain under investigation.

Witnesses to the collision, motorists who were in the area with an operational dash-camera, and residents with surveillance capabilities that captures the area surrounding the collision are asked to review their footage and contact the lead detective by dialing (905) 688-4111, option 3, badge 1009367 with any relevant information.
