Police look to identify ATV-riding suspect in St. Catharines trailer theft

Police responded to the report of the theft on August 3 and police are asking anyone in the area with video surveillance to review their footage for anything suspicious

Police are looking to identify a suspect in the theft of a trailer from a commercial property in St. Catharines.

On Aug. 3, 2023, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) responded to a break and enter at a commercial property located on Hiscott Street near Scott Street, in the City of St. Catharines.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the owner of the business who indicated the business’s gated compound had been breached and the suspect successfully stole a flatbed trailer. Review of the surveillance footage confirmed the suspect used an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) to tow the trailer from the property.

The trailer is described as a 2017 Advantage landscape flatbed that was black in colour. The value of the trailer is estimated to be $8,000.

Officers are appealing to members of the public for assistance identifying the suspect seen operating the ATV in the included photo. The ATV is described as red in colour, and the suspect was believed to be wearing a blue jacket and a grey helmet.

Area residents are asked to review their surveillance footage for suspicious activity in and around the Hiscott Street and Scott Street area on Aug. 3, 2023, at approximately 2:50 a.m.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigating officer by dialing (905) 688-4111, option 3, extension 1009782.

Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information that leads to an arrest.
