Violent assault in St. Catharines led to death of 31-year-old Raymond Riley

Niagara police have released footage of two suspects wanted in connection with a fatal attack last summer.

Niagara Regional Police Service have obtained videos from CCTV and dash cameras from the area where 31-year-old Raymond Riley was attacked in St. Catharines in August 2022. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Sept. 8.

Police today released the video clips and photographic stills, hoping members of the public will be able to identify the two suspects.

On Aug. 26, 2022, Raymond Riley was attacked and assaulted in the area of Riordon Street and Division Street in the City of St. Catharines. 

Riley was treated by members of the Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) and transported to a local hospital before being later transported to an out-of-town trauma centre due to the severity of his injuries. On Sept. 8, 2022, Riley succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

On Sept. 9, 2022, Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit requested members of the public to assist the police and provide CCTV/dash cams, etc., in the area to assist in the investigation. 

The homicide unit would like to thank the public for their assistance in this request and have completed their analysis of the CCTV. Investigators are now able to release video clips and photographic stills of the suspects responsible for the assault of Raymond.

The homicide unit is once again asking for public assistance in identifying the suspects observed in these videos and still images to further the investigation and help bring this horrendous incident to a close.
