School bus driver charged with impaired driving in Niagara Falls

Suspect didn't stop after collision with garbage truck, police said

On Monday, March 4, 2024, at approximately 3:05 p.m., 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers attended the area of Montrose Road and Lundy’s Lane in response to a motor vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed a male operating a school bus had been in a minor collision with a garbage truck, however, drove away without stopping. The garbage truck driver decided to follow the bus until it stopped in the area of Pitton Road in the City of Niagara Falls. 

Officers attended the scene and as a result of the investigation, the school bus driver was placed under arrest. There were no students on the bus at the time of the offence.

Devon D. Dobbs, 30, of no fixed abode, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Impaired operation

Dobbs has been released on a Form 10-undertaking and is expected to appear in court on April 20 at 9 a.m. at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
