On July 25, 2023, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into an allegation of physical and sexual assault of a female in the City of Welland.
The investigation determined the incidents occurred between Jan. 1 and July 19, 2023. The adult female victim and the suspect were known to each other. As a result of the investigation, detectives formed grounds to support the arrest of the suspect.
On July 26, 2023, Mark Keating (51 years old) of Welland has been arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offences of:
• Voyeurism
• Sexual assault
• Assault
• Assault with a weapon
Keating was held in custody for a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on July 27, 2023.
