LETTER: Fonthill eyesore just 'thin edge of the wedge'

Barren, untidy landscape boggles the mind and shows lack of respect, reader says

PelhamToday received the following letter to the editor from reader Graeme Lamb in response to LETTER: Fonthill 'looks like the town dump'

I could not agree more with Martin Harley's comments on the disgusting eyesore at the northeast corner of Station Street and Highway 20. However, this is just the thin edge of the wedge.

East Fonthill has essentially been a construction site for the last several years and looks to remain that way for several more to come...the challenge of driving Port Robinson between Station and Rice is starting to ease off, however the entire barren and untidy landscape all around the Meridian Centre and Fonthill Marketplace continues to boggle the mind.

Perhaps it could be used to practice lunar landings and generate some revenue for the Town?

There is no urban planning with all these developments, and the mish-mash of home types is an architectural disaster.

There is one single-family home which was built in the earlier stage of the East Fonthill expansion, which is now completely overshadowed by the later construction of a multi-level apartment building, built only a few feet away from its property line.

Shame on whoever is responsible for this lack of respect and citizenship (whether it be Town, Regional, or provincial authorities) and for having allowed it to happen.
