March 16th, 1923 - January 4th, 2023

Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Lookout Ridge Retirement Home on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in her 100th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband John (2010). Loving mother of Jim, Jill and Jack. Dear mother-in-law of Deborah, David and Inger. Cherished grandmother of Christy, John and Christopher. Beloved great grandmother of Asher and Payton. Predeceased by her father, Martin Engwer, (Canada), her mother, Ida Nerenberg (Canada) and her grandparents, Tina Nerenberg and Emil Nerenberg (Germany).

Eleanor's life began in rural Saskatchewan where she was raised primarily by her grandparents. During the depths of the depression, at the age of 17, she travelled east by train to Ontario looking for employment. She found work on the floor of a canning factory but quickly graduated to the office where her fine intelligence and strong character were trusted and relied upon by management. Her husband John (known as Jack) noted that in a later time, she might have run General Motors.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Lookout Ridge Retirement Home for the care and compassion their mother received while in their care.

Cremation has taken place and the family will gather for a private interment at Hillside Cemetery on a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Pelham Funeral Home
