With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Robert George Barkwell, born in Timmins on May 11, 1942.  Robert's journey on this earth concluded on February 28, 2024.

Bob was a man of unwavering love and devotion to his family.  His pride and joy encompassed his cherished children: Robert, Cathy (partner Steve) and Natalie (partner Jason).  He found immense happiness in the laughter and love shared with his two beloved grandchildren, Ella and Ethan.  He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Holly and David, who he enjoyed staying in touch with despite the geographic distance.

In retirement, Bob found joy in the sunny retreats of Florida during the winters and the Port Dalhousie Pier in the summer.  He often remarked, "life is good," a testament to his optimistic outlook and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.  For Bob, family was paramount.  He revelled in the warmth of family gatherings, especially cherished BBQ’s that were often filled with laughter and love.

Bob’s spirit was marked by his genuine care for people and his affinity for meaningful conversations.  He valued relationships above all else, recognizing that true wealth lies in the connections we nurture and cherish.

Though Bob’s physical presence may no longer grace our gatherings, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.  His legacy of love, kindness and devotion to family will endure through the memories we hold dear.

In honouring Bob’s memory, let us embrace the enduring values he held dear and continue to cherish the bonds of family and friendship that meant the world to him.

Forever remembered, forever cherished.  Rest In Peace, Dad.

In honouring Bob’s wishes private family arrangements have taken place.  Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144.  Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
