Passed peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Welland Hospital on Friday, December 30th, in his 88th year. Beloved husband and best friend of over 66 years to Carole (nee Parker). Loving father of Wayne (Donna), Larry (Emily) and Debbie (Edward). Cherished grandfather of Krysten, Jessica, Tia, Kevin, Carlie, Trey, Matt and Taylor, great grandfather of Evelyn, Kane, Kacey and Whitley.
George was a proud member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for over 30 years and the Rebecca’s Lodge for 15 years. George retired after 47 years from the Niagara District School Board and enjoyed trips to Florida, going north to their trailer fishing and most of all riding his bike. He loved spending time with all of his family, he was an avid reader and history buff, always talking about interesting facts he learned.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses on the 6th floor of the Welland Hospital for all their great care.
Family and friends will be received at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Thursday, January 5th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and on Friday, January 6th 10-11:00am. The Odd Fellows will be conducting a service at 6:30pm that evening. The memorial service to honor George’s life will take place at the funeral home on Friday, January 6th, beginning at 11:00am. Cremation has taken place.
