Police investigating fatal stabbing overnight in Niagara Falls

On Sept 6, 2023, at 2:50 a.m. the Communications Unit of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) received a 911 call indicating that an individual had been stabbed on Victoria Avenue between Morrison Street and Simcoe Street, in the City of Niagara Falls.

Officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded alongside Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics and members of the Niagara Falls Fire Department (NFFD).

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, an adult male who was suffering from an obvious stab wound. Despite lifesaving measures, they were pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

Detectives assigned to the Homicide Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation, supported by detectives assigned to the 2 District Criminal Investigative Branch and the Forensic Services Unit.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages and the suspect remains at large. Detectives are actively working to obtain a suspect description.
